When you enter the city, you pay your tax first, and the first store is the tax office. Four cart drivers brought in a bag of textiles, but they quarrelled with the tax officer. Due to the extravagant style of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty, the taxation in Northern Song Dynasty was quite cumbersome and heavy.

The man inside was upset and the voice was so loud that passers-by looked sideways. The dispute epitomised the tense official-public relations of the time.

This is Taxation Office

The first house on the north side of the street, close to the city wall, has a three-room facade.

There is a man sitting in front of the case in the middle, and a man standing next to him, saying something to him. One man was holding a board, and the other two seemed to be cargo owners or porters, the one on the front side was protecting the cargo, and the one on the back side was talking to the one holding the board.

What are they doing? Are they doing business? But the front of the house is not large, and there is no counter and other furnishings, so some researchers believe that this is a tax office. There is some truth to this speculation, and it is also related to its geographical location.
